SONGWRITER COMPETITION
In conjunction with funding from Hobart City Council Events Grant Program, and with thanks to Jay Whalley and his Pet Food Factory studio,
We are proud to announce the HOBOFOPO 2026 Songwriting competition.
We are looking for a Tasmanian themed song (do with that what you feel!).
Deadline – 16th July 2026
Format – quality doesn’t matter, rough demo is fine, MP3 emailed to folktilyapunk@gmail.com make the subject line clear ‘SONGWRITER AWARD’ so we can search for it.
Award – we have $1000 of studio time at the Pet Food Factory (that’s Jay from Frenzal Rhombs’ studio), and because Jay is a legend he’s doing mates rates, so you’ll get 2x 7h days work – time to record a few tracks.
This could see you taking your band/yourself into his studio, do a day of tracking then a day of mixing. Or you could record elsewhere then send it to Jay for a day of mixing and a day of mastering. However you want to roll with it.
The winner of this award will also get offered a performance slot at HOBOFOPO2026 – 13-15 November.
